How we chose these hotels
The list starts from Gare Montparnasse (48.8393, 2.3183, from Wikidata) and a circle of 600 m, with each hotel measured in a straight line from its coordinates. The selection rotated through the categories from five stars to one, the closest first in each, up to twenty candidates; none was checked by hand. Fourteen of the twenty have a file and all fourteen are described, shown by stars and then by distance. They are all four, three or two stars, because no five-star hotel lies in the circle in our base. Six candidates have no file and cannot be described: Concorde Montparnasse, Voco Paris Montparnasse and Le M (four stars), Citadines Montparnasse (three stars), La Perle Montparnasse and du Maine (two stars). Two more hotels of the circle with a file, Naos Hôtel Niepce (four stars, 500 m) and Hôtel Avia Saphir Montparnasse (three stars, 556 m), fall outside the twenty.

Distances are measured in a straight line from the coordinates, and walking times to the metro use the same coordinates, multiplied by 1.3 at 80 m a minute. All fourteen come from the automatic reading of their websites, so we state the official category and date, rooms, address, metro and the dated facts of each hotel, and no facility that was not confirmed. We publish no prices.
Montparnasse by the lines
The hotels cluster around a few stations. Pullman, Drawing House, Mercure, Ibis Catalogne, Arcadie, Gaîté, Espérance and the Théâtre all lie within five minutes of Gaîté (line 13). Hôtel de Paris stands opposite the station. The Novotel (rue du Cotentin) and the Ibis (boulevard de Vaugirard) are on the 15th-arrondissement side, near Pasteur (lines 6 and 12); the Edgar Quinet, de la Tour and Odessa hotels are around Edgar Quinet station (line 6).

- For trains. Montparnasse is one of the six major Paris stations, with metro lines 4, 6, 12 and 13 and the Transilien N. The rail premises have a Sunday trading derogation.
- For a first visit. The home page rates the Montparnasse area recommended for a first visit. From place Raoul Dautry the Eiffel Tower is 23 minutes away on line 6, Notre-Dame 21 on line 4 and the Louvre 23 with a change to line 1; no hub of sights lies on foot in our data, and the observatory of the Tour Montparnasse has been closed since 31 March 2026. The Montparnasse section of the home page sets the area against the twelve others.
- For a budget. The list holds six three-star and four two-star hotels, and the 14th arrondissement has 97 classified hotels, of which 18 have two stars and 51 three; with the 15th, the home page counts 31 hotels rated 1★ or 2★.
- For families. Arcadie offers an air-conditioned family room for four, and the nearer Ibis lists air-conditioned rooms.
In 2026 the tourist tax per adult per night is €8.45 in four stars, €5.53 in three and €3.25 in two. For the next arrondissements, see hotels in the 14th arrondissement and hotels in the 15th.
