Rue de Malte, by Oberkampf
The hotel stands at 49 rue de Malte in the 11th arrondissement, in the Oberkampf-République sector of our Bastille / Oberkampf guide. Atout France gave it four stars on 14 October 2024 and counts 46 rooms. Our file shows an independent house.
A decor of “follies”
The hotel describes an exuberant interior inspired by the Parisian follies, with pink elephants, zebras in leopard print and velvet. It adds that rue de Malte was once the site of the Alhambra, an opera house and then a music hall, a point we cannot confirm independently. On the practical side it lists a rooftop, a privatisable spa (access included from the Superior room up), an honesty bar and room service. Prestige rooms and suites sleep four, communicating rooms five. The hotel says it is not suited to guests with reduced mobility.
Metro and travel times
Oberkampf, with lines 5 and 9, is 150 m away (2 minutes), République with five lines 350 m (4) and Filles du Calvaire on line 8 400 m (5). The 100 rue Oberkampf reference point is 785 m from the hotel. From it, the Louvre pyramid is 26.5 minutes away, Notre-Dame 25 and the Eiffel Tower 41.5; Orly is about 48.5 minutes and Charles de Gaulle terminal 2 about 60.5. The Eiffel Tower journey takes line 9 from Saint-Ambroise to Iéna, so the suspension of line 8 at République, from 22 July 2026 to April 2027 because of works, does not affect it.
Within the 11th arrondissement
With 46 rooms, Ginette is the largest of the four four-star hotels in this list of nine, ahead of Hôtel L’Antoine (38), Hôtel Les Deux Girafes (34) and Hôtel Fabric (33). The area’s two five-stars are Boutet Bastille MGallery (80 rooms, in the faubourg Saint-Antoine) and Maison Bréguet (50, near Bréguet-Sabin).
