Hôtel L’Antoine: a 4-star at the start of rue de Charonne

At the foot of rue de Charonne

Hôtel L’Antoine is at 10-12 rue de Charonne, in the 11th arrondissement, at the start of the street. It stands about 150 metres from Ledru-Rollin station and some 500 from the Bastille itself, in the Bastille-Charonne district, two streets from rue de Lappe. Atout France, the French rating body, classified it four stars on 14 March 2022 and counts 38 rooms.

Rooms and facilities

The hotel offers a sauna with a cold shower and a small fitness room with a treadmill and a bike, a lounge facing the reception and a buffet breakfast, and says it is accessible to reduced-mobility guests. Air conditioning, pets and parking were not found on the pages we read. We do not describe room sizes or views, since our record has none.

The hotel’s own account of its history is that it occupies the site of a 17th-century convent in the faubourg Saint-Antoine. We cite that as the hotel’s statement: no heritage record we hold confirms it for this address.

Metro and journeys

Ledru-Rollin (line 8) is two minutes away, Bastille (lines 1, 5 and 8) six and Bréguet-Sabin (line 5) eight. Line 1 at Bastille runs direct to the Louvre, Concorde and the Champs-Élysées.

Place de la Bastille, our reference point, is 330 m from the hotel. From it, the Louvre pyramid is 17 minutes by metro, Notre-Dame 19 (both line 1) and the Eiffel Tower 36.5 (line 1, then line 9 after a change at Franklin D. Roosevelt). Orly takes about 37 minutes, the shortest of its airport times, and Charles de Gaulle terminal 1 about 52.5.

Within the Bastille / Oberkampf group

Of the nine hotels in this list, L’Antoine is one of four four-stars. Hôtel Les Deux Girafes (34 rooms) lists a fitness room and a garden; Hôtel Ginette à la Folie (46 rooms) a spa and a rooftop terrace; Hôtel Fabric (33 rooms) air conditioning and accessible rooms. Maison Breguet and Boutet Bastille MGallery are the five-stars, both with pools. L’Antoine stands at the start of rue de Charonne, 480 m from Hôtel Exquis at no. 71, and has a wellness corner but no pool.
