A garden behind the gateway
Le Grand Quartier is at 13-15 rue de Nancy, in the 10th arrondissement, 200 m from Château d’Eau and about 450 m from the canal as the crow flies. It is independent. Atout France ranked it four stars on 22 February 2022 and counts 83 rooms. According to the hotel, the site was industrial: luxury cartonnage, a rubber works, embroidery, and then the carrier Danzas until the 1980s, which explains the wide porch. The interior designers Joyce Urbanus and Dax Roll, of the Nicemakers studio, designed the hotel around a large central garden.
Rooms and services
The hotel lists a café-bistro, a garden at the centre, a rooftop with a view of the rooftops and the 10th arrondissement town hall, and two fitness cabins. It offers “Family & Friends” communicating rooms, says pets are welcome and runs a 24-hour mini-market. Its own formula, “no check-out”, means that no check-out time is imposed. Air conditioning and wheelchair access were not found on the pages we read.
Métro and sights
Château d’Eau (line 4) is 200 m away, three minutes on foot; Jacques Bonsergent (line 5) takes five and Gare de l’Est (lines 4, 5, 7, Transilien P) seven. Using the 102 quai de Jemmapes reference point, about 430 m from the door, transit takes 25.5 minutes to the Louvre pyramid, 25 to Notre-Dame, 41 to the Eiffel Tower and 47.5 to Orly; Charles-de-Gaulle is 50.5 minutes (terminal 1) or 55.5 (terminal 2).
