The perimeter is the 6th arrondissement, minus the Odéon and Saint-Michel fringe that our Latin Quarter guide covers (seven hotels). A hotel counts as boutique when it has fewer than 40 rooms, as the registry or our checked file states, and at least three stars from Atout France. Twenty-one hotels in our database meet that rule; Prince Régent, whose room count we lack, is not counted. We ordered them by hand-checked files first, then stars from five downward, then by the distance to the nearest station recorded in the file.
We describe fifteen of the twenty-one. Six are left out because our file holds no fact about them beyond category, rooms and address: Au Manoir Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Louis II and L’Inattendu (four stars), and Des Deux Continents, La Perle and De Seine (three stars).
Three of the fifteen (L’Hôtel, Récamier, Marronniers) were read by hand. For the twelve others, the file holds the category, the rooms, the address, the metro and what the hotel’s site states about itself, so we attribute those statements to the hotel. We publish no price: the price band shown for each hotel is estimated from its stars.
Reading the 6th by sub-area
The fifteen sit in four pockets, which matters more than the arrondissement number.
Rue de Buci and rue Jacob. Villa des Prés, Artus, Buci, La Villa, Marronniers and Canettes are within a few minutes of Mabillon (line 10) and Saint-Germain-des-Prés (line 4). This is the market-street side; by our reading of the 2015 order, rue Jacob, where Marronniers stands, lies inside the Saint-Germain tourist zone for Sunday shopping.
Saint-Sulpice. Récamier and Esprit Saint-Germain are by the church of Saint-Sulpice, which was listed as a historic monument on 20 May 1915. The Rennes–Saint-Sulpice tourist zone, for Sunday shopping, takes in the square and rue de Rennes.
Montparnasse side. Académies et des Arts, Sainte-Beuve, Saint-Grégoire, Jardin le Bréa and Atelier Vavin stand around Vavin, Notre-Dame-des-Champs and Saint-Placide. Lines 4, 6 and 12 serve this part of the 6th.
Beaux-Arts and rue Bonaparte. L’Hôtel, 150 m from the Seine according to our file, and Fougère are five and two minutes from Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
Which hotel for whom
For a first visit, the rue de Buci group puts you within a few minutes of line 4 at Saint-Germain-des-Prés, with a direct ride to Châtelet. Couples will notice that our sheet lists L’Hôtel and Récamier among the charm hotels of the quarter. Families have communicating rooms at Récamier and a family category at Marronniers. Anyone watching the budget should know that the area is rated not recommended for a small budget: the classified hotels of the wider zone include only nine with one or two stars. The page on places to stay in Paris on a budget compares the other districts, and the 6th arrondissement list covers every category.
The tourist tax in 2026 is €11.70 per adult per night in a five-star hotel, €8.45 in a four-star and €5.53 in a three-star; minors do not pay. If you would rather have the whole of Saint-Germain, from three stars to five, see the page on where to stay in Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
Frequently asked questions
What counts as a boutique hotel in the 6th arrondissement?
For this page, a hotel of fewer than 40 rooms and at least three stars, the rule of our checked databases. Charm and identity cannot be measured automatically, so the list rests on size and category. The fifteen here have between 17 and 36 rooms.
How many hotels does the 6th arrondissement have?
Atout France lists 102 classified hotels with 3,669 rooms in the 6th on 4 October 2026: eight five-star, 45 four-star, 40 three-star, eight two-star and one one-star.
Is the 6th a good area for a first visit to Paris?
Our neighbourhood sheet rates it recommended. The Louvre and Orsay are within walking distance along the Seine, and line 4 runs direct to Châtelet and Gare du Nord; its Saint-Michel Notre-Dame station is closed until 19 December 2026. From place Saint-Germain-des-Prés, our calculation gives 13 minutes on foot to the Louvre and 30 minutes to the Eiffel Tower, on foot to Musée d'Orsay then RER C.
How do I reach the airports from Saint-Germain?
There is no direct line to Charles de Gaulle: our calculation from place Saint-Germain-des-Prés takes line 4 to Châtelet-Les Halles and RER B, a median of 50.5 to 56.5 minutes. For Orly, take line 4 to Châtelet and change to line 14. Flat taxi fares for the left bank in 2026 are €65 to Charles de Gaulle and €36 to Orly.
Do shops open on Sundays here?
Often, within two tourist zones. Two 2015 orders, Saint-Germain and Rennes–Saint-Sulpice, let shops open on Sundays and until midnight on weekdays under a collective agreement. It is a possibility, not an obligation, and each address should be checked on the city's map.
