Rue de Richelieu, by the Palais-Royal

The Drawing Hotel is at 17 rue de Richelieu, between the Comédie-Française and rue des Petits-Champs, in the Palais-Royal district of the 1st arrondissement. Our guide puts it in the Louvre quartier.

It is independent. Atout France, the national classification body, rated it four stars on 22 April 2026, the second most recent classification among the nine hotels we hold for the quartier; the register lists 48 rooms.

The art, and the rooms

What sets the hotel apart is the Drawing Lab. The hotel presents it as the first private art centre devoted to contemporary drawing, a claim we attribute to the hotel, and it has given the corridors on its five floors to artists. Carine Tissot of Drawing Now Paris conceived the project with the interior-design duo NIDO, and the hotel has 48 rooms.

Breakfast is served at the D-bar or in the patio, and a rooftop is used for an aperitif. We found no spa, pool or gym, and nothing on air conditioning or pets. The site’s footer says the hotel is accessible to guests with reduced mobility; we did not read the details of the rooms.

Metro

Palais Royal – Musée du Louvre (lines 1 and 7) and Pyramides (lines 7 and 14) are each 250 metres away, three minutes; Tuileries, line 1, is 550 metres, seven. From the quartier’s reference point at place du Marché Saint-Honoré, a theoretical journey takes about 12 minutes to the Louvre, 16 to Notre-Dame and 30 to the Eiffel Tower, outside disruption.

Against its neighbours

Three of the nine hotels in our database for the quartier are four-stars. The Hôtel Brighton has 62 rooms, with family and accessible rooms and pets; the Hôtel des Orfèvres has 43. The Drawing Hotel, at 48, falls between them. The Grand Hôtel du Palais Royal, a five-star of 59 rooms with a spa, restaurant and bar, is 190 metres away, and the two-star Hôtel Montpensier is next door, about 12 metres off, with 40 rooms. Our Louvre hotel list shows all nine.
