Hotel Bachaumont, rue Bachaumont

A pedestrian street in the 2nd

Hotel Bachaumont is at 18 rue Bachaumont, in the 2nd arrondissement. Rue Bachaumont lies in the Montorgueil district, whose main street is a pedestrian zone lined with food shops and restaurants. In our guide, Opéra and Grands Boulevards is the quartier, and the Bachaumont sits at its southern edge, closer to Les Halles than to the Palais Garnier.

Atout France, the French state’s hotel classification body, lists it with four stars since 22 December 2021, for 49 rooms. It belongs to La Clé Group, according to the hotel’s own site.

Rooms, spa and table

All 49 rooms and suites carry the signature of Dorothée Meilichzon. Some face the street and have a balcony; two suites are meant for families. The hotel also lists a restaurant, a bar and a spa, and a sunny terrace on the ground floor, which we do not class as a rooftop. Pets are accepted, and the site has an access page for guests with reduced mobility.

The site gives no detail on the spa, so check its size and opening hours with the hotel. Air conditioning is not mentioned in the pages we read.

Metro and journey times

Sentier, on line 3, is 250 metres away, about three minutes. Bourse, also line 3, is six minutes; Les Halles, line 4, seven. For the quartier, measured from boulevard Montmartre, a theoretical metro journey is around 18 minutes to the Louvre, 21 to Notre-Dame and 29 to the Eiffel Tower, outside disruption. The hotel itself is nearer Les Halles than that reference point, and we have not measured from its door.

Against its neighbours

Of the nine hotels in our list for this quartier, three are four-stars, and the Bachaumont is the largest: Hôtel Panache has 40 rooms and La Maison Favart 39. It is also the only one of the three to combine a spa, a restaurant and a bar. Hôtel Icône, a three-star of 30 rooms, is about 700 metres away. The five-star La Fantaisie has 73 rooms. See the Opéra hotel list for the full comparison.
