Hotel de l'Abbaye, 10 rue Cassette, Paris 6th — 43 rooms, 4 stars, courtyard garden, Saint-Sulpice metro, who it suits. Checked October 2026.
A garden street in the 6th
Hôtel de l’Abbaye stands at 10 rue Cassette, in the 6th arrondissement, between rue de Rennes and the church of Saint-Sulpice. The administrative map places the street in the Notre-Dame-des-Champs quartier, but for visitors it belongs with Saint-Germain-des-Prés, which our guide to staying in Saint-Germain covers as a whole. Atout France gave it four stars on 30 September 2024; it has 43 rooms.
The hotel says it opened in 1973 on the site of a Benedictine convent; we give that as the hotel’s account only. The décor of the 1990s is by Michel Boyer.
Rooms and the Salon
The hotel offers rooms and suites that face an interior garden or a courtyard, behind wrought-iron gates, and one apartment with a terrace. The ground-floor Salon sits under a glass roof and serves light French cooking from breakfast to dinner, with tea in the afternoon. We did not find a pool, spa or gym, and the pages we read were silent on air conditioning, access for reduced mobility and pets.
Among the four-star neighbours
Three four-star hotels in our list are in this quartier. Hôtel du Quai Voltaire has 30 rooms, a restaurant and air conditioning; Hôtel Récamier has 24 rooms, a bar and family rooms. The Abbaye is the largest of the three and the only one that lists both a restaurant and a garden. The 6th arrondissement counts 102 classified hotels, 45 of them four-star, so the choice is wide (a garden-courtyard three-star is Hôtel des Marronniers): our list of hotels in the 6th arrondissement sets the others beside it.
On foot and by metro
Saint-Sulpice gives line 4 straight to Châtelet; Rennes and Sèvres-Babylone add line 12 and line 10. From place Saint-Germain-des-Prés the median times are 13 minutes to the Louvre (a direct walk of 1,033 m), 11.5 to Notre-Dame by metro and 30 to the Eiffel Tower, walking to the Musée d’Orsay and taking the RER C. That route avoids Saint-Michel, whose line 4 station is closed until 19 December 2026 according to the City of Paris. Saint-Sulpice itself and the Luxembourg area are close, and none of our sources describes a cluster of night bars here, only large cafés open late.
