The old Samaritaine de Luxe
The hotel stands at 27–29 boulevard des Capucines, in the Gaillon administrative district of the 2nd arrondissement, some fifty metres from Opéra station. It carries the Kimpton name of the IHG group. The hotel says it has kept the Art Nouveau façade of 1917, a legacy of the former Samaritaine de Luxe; the heritage record, dated 8 December 1981, inscribes that façade, the roof, the interior staircase with its banister and the lift.
Atout France classified it five stars on 5 October 2021 and counts 149 rooms; the hotel’s site speaks of 26 suites among them.
Pool, spa and table
The hotel lists an indoor pool, the Sequoia Spa, a gym, the restaurant Montecito and bars. It announces a children’s programme and equipment for pets, and says pets are accepted.
Among the nine hotels of this list, it is the only one to list a pool. InterContinental Paris Le Grand, in the same Opéra-Garnier district, is far larger at 446 rooms and has a spa but no pool in our file.
Metro and sights
Opéra (lines 3, 7, 8) is about a minute away, Auber (RER A) four and Madeleine (lines 8, 12, 14) five. From our place de l’Opéra reference point, the Louvre pyramid is 11.5 minutes away by metro (line 7) and Notre-Dame 17 (lines 7, 14, 4); Orly is about 37 minutes by lines 14 and 8.
