Where to Stay in Paris

On the western edge of the hill

The hotel stands at the corner of rue Joseph-de-Maistre and rue Caulaincourt (12–14 rue Joseph-de-Maistre), above the Montmartre cemetery. That is the western limit of historic Montmartre, in the Grandes-Carrières administrative district of the 18th. Its official name in the Atout France register is Terrass’’ Hôtel; it is an independent house. Atout France classified it four stars on 18 January 2022 and counts 92 rooms; the hotel’s own site speaks of 78, a gap our sources do not explain.

Rooftop, spa and rooms

The hotel runs a panoramic restaurant, Edmond, on the seventh floor, and a rooftop bar that is heated in winter and covered according to the weather. The NUXE spa has a sauna and a hammam; the hotel offers fitness and yoga classes at weekends rather than a gym. Rooms are air-conditioned, communicating rooms are available on request, room 306 is adapted for reduced mobility, and there are two lifts. Only small dogs are accepted.

On our list of nine, Terrass is the only hotel with a spa and the only one with a rooftop terrace. The only five-star in the 18th, Manolita Paris, has ten rooms; the Montmartre hotels page lays out all nine.
