Between two stations

Hôtel Les Deux Gares stands at 2 rue des Deux-Gares, in the 10th arrondissement. Like the street it is on, it sits between two termini: Gare de l’Est is about 200 metres away and Gare du Nord about 250. That puts it in the stations sector, some 700 metres from the Canal Saint-Martin, which is why our guide files it under the canal area while noting the gap. Atout France classified it four stars on 28 November 2025 and counts 38 rooms.

Rooms and facilities

The hotel’s own pages describe a small pool and a hammam in a retro decor, which guests can book privately by the hour, and a gym with a rowing machine and a sauna. All of these are charged separately. A bistro-café serves breakfast. The rooms are air-conditioned, there is a family category and the reception never closes. The hotel states plainly that it has no room for reduced mobility, and that some rooms overlook the railway lines.

The decoration is the hotel’s signature claim: it says it was the first hotel decorated by designer Luke Edward Hall, who used bright colours and Art Deco furniture.

Metro and journeys

Gare de l’Est (lines 4, 5, 7 and the Transilien P) is two minutes away, Gare du Nord (lines 4 and 5, RER B and D, Transilien H and K) three, and Magenta (RER E) four. The RER B links Gare du Nord with Charles de Gaulle directly; from our canal-area reference point at 102 quai de Jemmapes the airport takes about 50 minutes from terminal 1.

From that same point the Louvre pyramid is 25.5 minutes by public transport, Notre-Dame 25 and the Eiffel Tower 41. These are canal-area times: from the hotel, the stations are closer than the canal.

Among the canal-area hotels

This list holds nine hotels for the canal area, and Les Deux Gares is one of six four-stars; the other three are rated two or three stars. Bloom House Hotel Spa, with 91 rooms, lists a spa and a pool as well, while Hôtel Providence has 18 rooms and a garden. Les Deux Gares is the one built around the stations rather than the water, and the only one of the nine to pair a pool with a family category in our file. No hotel on the list is a five-star, so the four-stars are its top category.

The area page, hotels at the Canal Saint-Martin, compares all nine; the arrondissement list is hotels in the 10th arrondissement.
