A four-star on rue Clauzel

Les Matins de Paris stands at 3 rue Clauzel, in the part of the 9th arrondissement known as SoPi, for South Pigalle, a commercial name that no official source defines. The street runs between place Saint-Georges and the rue des Martyrs; the administrative quartier is Saint-Georges. The hotel is independent. Atout France, the national classification body, has rated it four stars since 31 October 2025, for 33 rooms.

The hotel says the address once held the first American restaurant in Paris, opened in the 1950s and 1960s and frequented by musicians. That story comes from the hotel alone; we have not found a second source, so read it as the house’s own account.

Rooms and the basement pool

The hotel lists rooms for four people and communicating rooms, as do the other two four-stars of this list, Hôtel HOY Paris and Les Plumes Hôtel. It also lists accessible rooms, accepts pets and has a bar served on an honesty basis. There is no parking.

The wellness area is the distinctive part: an indoor swimming pool and a hammam in the basement, open 7 am to midnight (closed 3 to 4 pm), at an extra charge. From the Superior category upwards a private 45-minute slot is included. We found no treatment rooms, so this is a pool and a steam room rather than a spa. Air conditioning is not mentioned on the pages we read.

Getting around from South Pigalle

Saint-Georges, on line 12, is 200 metres away, two minutes on foot. Notre-Dame-de-Lorette (line 12) is 450 metres and Pigalle (lines 2 and 12) 500 metres, about six minutes each. For the quartier, a theoretical metro journey from place Pigalle takes about 20 minutes to the Louvre, 26 to Notre-Dame and 34 to the Eiffel Tower; from 30 rue des Martyrs, about 19, 26 and 35. Our station list for the area has no RER station, so airport trips need a change.

Around the hotel

Rue Clauzel ends at the rue des Martyrs, where food shops outside the tourist zones may open on Sunday mornings under the general rule. In the same Saint-Georges quartier are two museums linked to Romanticism: the Musée de la Vie romantique (16 rue Chaptal), with free access to its collections, and the Musée Gustave Moreau.

Against its neighbours

Of the ten hotels in our data for Pigalle and SoPi, Les Matins de Paris, with 33 rooms, is the sixth smallest. Hôtel HOY Paris, 253 metres away, is a four-star with 21; Les Plumes Hôtel, 382 metres away, is a four-star with 35. Bus Palladium Hôtel Club is a five-star of 35 rooms, 390 metres away. The three-stars Hôtel Villa Bohème and Hôtel Joke sit at 403 and 680 metres. The full set is in our 9th arrondissement list.
