A two-star on the place des Abbesses

Hotel Regyn’s Montmartre stands at 18 place des Abbesses, a short distance from the Guimard-designed entrance of Abbesses station. The administrative quartier is Clignancourt. The hotel is independent and says it opened in 1974. Atout France, the national classification body, has rated it two stars since 4 June 2024, for 22 rooms. Its name, the hotel explains, pays tribute to the inhabitants of Erquy, the “Réginéens”.

Rooms

All rooms are doubles. Standard rooms face the garden, “next to the Wall of I love yous”, according to the hotel; Comfort rooms look onto the square and the church of Saint-Jean-de-Montmartre; Deluxe rooms have rooftop views and, the hotel says, the Eiffel Tower. The hotel keeps its original staircase and toile de Jouy wallpaper. Reception is staffed round the clock.

The limits are plain. No room is air-conditioned, only fans, and pets are not allowed. Accessibility is not mentioned. As a two-star, it offers no restaurant, bar or pool in our data.

Metro and the hill

Abbesses, on line 12, is 50 metres away, one minute. Pigalle (lines 2 and 12) is 350 metres, four minutes, and the lower station of the Montmartre funicular 450 metres, five minutes. Place des Abbesses, 30 metres from the hotel, is our reference point: theoretical transit journeys from it are about 23 minutes to the Louvre, 28 to Notre-Dame and 36 to the Eiffel Tower. According to Wikipedia, the station platforms lie 36 metres underground, reached by 176 steps or by lifts.

Against its neighbours

Of the nine hotels on our Montmartre list, Regyn’s is the only two-star. Timhotel Montmartre, about 150 metres away, is a three-star of 59 rooms; Monsieur Aristide is a four-star of 25 at about 240 metres; Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé is a four-star of 39 at about 280 metres, and Hôtel 29 Lepic a three-star of 37 at about 300 metres.
