Where to Stay in Paris

On the corner of rue du Bac

The Hôtel Montalembert is at 3 rue de Montalembert, at the corner of rue du Bac, in the Saint-Thomas-d’Aquin district of the 7th arrondissement. Our guide puts it in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés quartier, on its 7th-arrondissement side; the hotel places itself in the publishers’ district of rue du Bac.

The hotel says it has been open since 1926. Atout France, the national classification body, has rated it five stars since 24 November 2022, for 50 rooms and suites. We found no group or chain on its site.

Rooms and services

There are 50 rooms and suites, and two suites on the top floor look out to the Eiffel Tower; no other category is described that way. The Restaurant du Montalembert and a bar are on site, along with fitness and yoga space and treatments under the name Calma Paris. The page that should describe the spa returns an error, so we do not call it a spa.

Pets are accepted on request. The hotel has a valet service or, failing that, a paid car park nearby, and its structured data lists facilities for guests with disabilities. Nothing on air conditioning appears on the pages we read.

Metro and journey times

Rue du Bac, on line 12, is 300 metres away, four minutes; Solférino, also line 12, 500 metres, six; Musée d’Orsay, on the RER C, 550 metres, seven. Measured from the place Saint-Germain-des-Prés, about 495 metres from the hotel, a theoretical journey takes 11.5 minutes to Notre-Dame (line 4), 13 to the Louvre (a direct walk of 1,033 metres) and 30 to the Eiffel Tower (a walk to the Musée d’Orsay, then RER C), outside disruption. The Eiffel Tower figure already allows for the closure of Saint-Michel station on line 4, which lasts until 19 December 2026.

Against its neighbours

Three of the nine hotels on this list hold five stars. The Mandarin Oriental Lutetia, 620 metres away, has 184 rooms and a pool; L’Hôtel, 540 metres away, has 20 rooms and a pool. The Montalembert, at 50, is the middle one and the only one of the three without a pool. The nearest of the nine is the four-star Hôtel du Quai Voltaire, 30 rooms, 330 metres away; the Hôtel Récamier, 24 rooms, is 850 metres away, at 3 bis place Saint-Sulpice.
