Maison Souquet, rue de Bruxelles

Between place Blanche and place de Clichy

Maison Souquet is at 10 rue de Bruxelles, between place Blanche and place de Clichy, in the Saint-Georges district of the 9th arrondissement. Our guide puts it in the Pigalle (SoPi) quartier. It belongs to the Collection Maisons Particulières, according to the hotel.

Atout France, the national classification body, has rated it five stars since 1 December 2022, for 20 rooms and suites. Our data records no palace distinction.

The house and its rooms

The hotel says it occupies the former “house of pleasures of Madame Souquet”, opened in 1905, and Jacques Garcia’s interiors draw on the brothels of the Belle Époque. We found no monument listing for the building. Each of the 20 rooms and suites carries the name of a courtesan; the hotel mentions 2,000 metres of silk. The hotel lists a two-bedroom suite of 55 m².

The “Salon d’Eau” has a ten-metre pool under a cobalt-blue starred vault, a hammam and a treatment room, and is privatised for one hour a day for each guest. Salons serve breakfast from 7 to 11, lunch from 12 to 3 and dinner from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m.; a cocktail bar is open from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Metro and journey times

Blanche, on line 2, is 200 metres away, two minutes; place de Clichy, lines 2 and 13, is 300 metres, four; Pigalle, lines 2 and 12, is 600 metres, seven. Measured from place Pigalle, our reference point, a theoretical journey takes about 20 minutes to the Louvre, 26 to Notre-Dame and 34 to the Eiffel Tower, outside disruption.

Against its neighbours

Three of the nine hotels of this list have five stars, and Maison Souquet is the smallest, with 20 rooms against 35 each at the Hôtel Le Ballu, 221 metres away and also with a pool, and the Bus Palladium Hôtel Club, 402 metres away, which lists a restaurant and a bar but no pool. The nearest hotel is the three-star Hôtel Joke, 44 rooms, 132 metres away. Among the four-stars, Hôtel Les Matins de Paris lists a pool. Our Pigalle hotel list compares all nine.
